It is being forecasted that the Kansas City Metropolitan area will experience dangerously cold temperatures and windchills beginning on January 23rd through the 25th and likely beyond. Below are some links to related information including a weekly resource directory that has two dozen categories of information including a "Cold Weather" category with shelter information.



The next COAD General Membership Meeting is on March 11th at 1:30 p.m.  The COAD is welcoming a Nationally recognized subject-matter expert on first-responder safety in mass events.


On January 14th, Missouri 911 in conjunction with MARC presented on Next Gen (NG) 911.  This was done from state and local perspectives as well as in relationship to FIFA WC 2026.  



The "Animals in A Disaster Workshop" has been rescheduled for February 6, 2026.

About Us

The COAD is a network of local organizations, public and private agencies, and nonprofits that partner to plan for, respond to, and help communities recover from disasters. Effective coordination and collaboration across these different sectors facilitates a more rapid response thereby reducing human suffering.  To maximize our impact, the Kansas City Regional COAD is also, a 501c3 nonprofit. We look forward to sharing our mission with you!

Committees play a vital role in emergency response and recovery by facilitating coordinated efforts, ensuring comprehensive planning, and enabling effective communication and resource allocation among various stakeholders. The COAD stands firm that committees are the heart of our organization.  Each of our committees is listed below and there you can learn more about what they do, meetings, contact information, and pertinent resources.

The COAD's internship program offers invaluable hands-on experience in the critical field of emergency management, preparing the next generation of professionals for a wide array of career opportunities. Interns assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of emergency preparedness and response activities across the four mission areas: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
